1000 MAD project by the Politecnico di Milano is the first experimentation in the world of autonomous vehicles on public roads, on a route of more than 1500 km in over 12 months. It is the result of intense work on Artificial Intelligence and autonomous driving, applied to racing cars, carried out in recent years by our university. The vehicle that will be used for the testing is the brand new MC20 Cielo made available by Maserati. An iconic super sports car that combines the best of modern technologies with the charm of this car manufacturer’s history and will be equipped with the most advanced technology for autonomous driving developed by DEIB Department of Politecnico di Milano and completed with Design elements developed by FiP, Fashion in Process.

The 1000 MAD project is characterized by the collaboration of design, engineering and management. The teamwear, designed by Fashion in Process Research Lab, represents this integration through the stylistic research, the research for materials and production solutions that combine symbolic and technological innovation. The teamwear has a streetwear style, reflecting the dynamic style of the team. The stylistic codes are aligned with the identity of the 1000 MAD project, recalling the colors of the car’s livery. The Politecnico di Milano logo, together with the logos of the project’s major stakeholders, 1000 Miglia and Maserati, embellish each garment. The teamwear therefore expresses the identity of the team, accompanying it in all the activities of this experimentation, but also communicating its values of research and innovation. An applied QR code transforms the garments into a tale of the adventure of the race, an invitation to explore the stages of the 1000 MAD project and the adventure on the frontier of research and knowledge.

From 13 to 17 June 2023, the avatar of the1000 MAD project will be with the co-driver, Matteo Marzotto, on some of the roads of the 1000 Miglia 2023. An iconic object, designed by FiP, Fashion in Process, to materialise artificial intelligence into a 'physical shape', with futuristic lines embodying the speed of data processing and of the movement of the racing car. A cage made of silver, with precious details, with an organic design that encloses a light and luminous soul, developed through a sophisticated research of materials, finishing and technologies. Inside a heart of light shows the thought in action during the performance: a sophisticated intelligence, a synthesis of technology and design, able to giving life to a new driving experience, in which the human being becomes the free protagonist to contemplate and live the experience to the full.
